There’s a hidden tattoo on my wrist that most people don’t know about. It simply says, “I am.” Two small words, but they’ve radically shifted how I think about myself. Early in my career, I was the queen of affirmations. I was dogmatic about having positive “I am” statements taped on my mirror. But somewhere along the way, life got busy, business took over, and I forgot just how powerful those words really are.
A few years ago, I was reminded—very bluntly—that what you think about, you bring about. The words you repeat to yourself aren’t just background noise; they shape your identity. More importantly, the way you speak about yourself becomes the lens through which others see you. That hit me hard. So, I decided it wasn’t enough to just “remember” that. I needed a daily, physical reminder.
That’s when the tattoo happened. Every morning, when I see it, it forces me to finish the sentence: “I am…”. I am worthy. I am capable. I am something. That tiny reminder grounds me in who I choose to be every single day.
Your personal brand is built from these kinds of intentional affirmations. It’s not just about what you do—it’s about what you believe about yourself and how you choose to live that belief out loud.
